E3 2013

This year’s E3 was special in many ways which is awesome as it was my first E3. I’ve been to multiple game shows before including the Tokyo Game show and GDC multiple time. It was very similar to my TGS 2006 experience in the sense that it was also the year in which the next gen consoles were announced.

However, this isn’t the only reason why this year’s E3 was special. To many people in the industry this generation of consoles is different than all the ones that have come before in terms of we don’t really know what to expect.
It’s-a-Me … Fawzi
In previous iterations, consoles were introduced because hardware are no longer keeping up with modern software and there was market demand of new technology that would move the medium forward. But this year, consumers seam to be split in between being contempt with current consoles and high focus on mobile gaming. so in many ways, this year’s announcements would pretty much shape the direction in which the industry would be heading in the upcoming 5-6 years.

Biggest surprise of E3
Sony’s PS4 price announcement. actually their whole press conference was very impressive, their focus on games and consumers was a very pleasant surprise in which it seamed obvious that Sony wants to return to its roots and would not give MS the market advantage that it gave them in previous generations.

E3 Most impressive game:
Metal Gear solid V: The Phantom Pains
Graphics and gameplay look amazing, I’ve always been a fan of the MGS franchise because it has managed to stay fresh in every single release, the fifth one is going to take this to the next level, it looks like a game that would require a lot of patience which is essential in a stealth game in my opinion.

E3 Game I’m looking forward to the most:
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
I haven’t played the original on the Gamecube which is something that has always bothered me. I tried getting it on the Wii on multiple occasions but faced trouble finding a gamecube Controller  I’m super excited about this HD release, many fans consider this game the best Zelda game, and it’s coming out in October this year! CAN’T WAIT!

E3 Best Booth:
Nintendo. I’ll admit that I’m biased, but they were giving the best prizes, and you get the chance to take photos like this:

Special Treat:
I found out that the LA symphony orchestra were playing the Legend of Zelda music titled: Symphony of the Goddess in the Greek Theater of LA at the evening of the second day of E3; I instantly bought tickets and went with friends, needless to say it was amazing.

The venue was sold out, and was filled with hardcore Zelda fans, if you’ve ever to come across these guys playing I highly recommend going there. Here’s a link to their website.
