From April 28 to April 29, I had the honor of participating in a panel at the International Congress of Arabic Publishing and Creative Industries in Abu Dhabi. Our discussion focused on the transformative role of video games in bringing Arab voices to the world. We explored the importance of authentic cultural representation in games, the educational potential of interactive storytelling, and the economic opportunities within the Arab gaming industry. Drawing from my experience in the industry, I emphasized how video games can foster cross-cultural dialogue, challenge stereotypes, and provide immersive learning experiences about Arab history and traditions.
Participating in this panel was an enriching experience, highlighting the passion and creativity within the Arab gaming community. The discussions reinforced my belief in the potential of video games to serve as powerful cultural ambassadors. The congress underscored the significant role of video games in cultural representation and dialogue, paving the way for a more inclusive and interconnected world. The conversations initiated in Abu Dhabi will undoubtedly continue, shaping the future trajectory of video games as a cultural force in the Arab world and beyond.
